Leaf viewing!

Hi everyone!
My husband and I took a few days off last week and went to see the leaves changing their glorious colors in the mountains.  We took off on Thursday from southwest GA, rode into eastern AL and stopped at what used to be a Stuckey’s we visited 40 + years ago on I-20.  This was a regular spot we stopped at when we would travel to AL to visit Jimmy’s family.   We continued on the back roads up to I-59, then back into northwest Ga and into TN on I-24.  We stopped at the rest area just inside TN as it was new to us and we had never stopped there.  It probably was not there the last time we were in that area of Chattanooga so many years ago!  We ate at STIR in Chattanooga and it was delicious!  It is located right next to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo so if you ever go to Chattanooga, be sure and eat there!  Did I mention I LOVE Chattanooga?  (We have great friends there who are like family to us but as it was Halloween and we only had such a short time there, we did not get to meet up with them.)   From there we traveled Hwy 64 into NC along the river but it got dark and was raining so we did not have a very good view those several miles.  We do plan to go back and retrace that area during daylight hours soon.  We ended this portion of our trip in Murphy, NC and during the night we were told there were snow flurries there.  I told Jimmy, as we came to our night’s stop, I would not be surprised if there was not any snow soon.  We had rain the whole trip but the leaves were glistening gloriously!  I believe the leaves were prettier in the rain than the next day when we headed back to GA.  We had planned to go into northeast GA and visit our oldest son & family but they posted photos of being on the coast with our youngest son’s mother-in-law, so they missed us!  Next we headed into north GA on Hwy 129 into Blairsville and visited Alexander’s General Store.  We saw lots of gorgeous scenery and beautiful leaves but I believe they were prettier in the rain!  Next stop
on our way home, we spent time with our youngest son and grands.  It is always a pleasure to visit our family and have time together.  Our Grands were so surprised when they saw me when we picked them up from kindergarten and day care!  We went to Barrett’s soccer game on Saturday although he could not play with a cast on his arm.  Nothing is broken and it is just a sprained elbow but the cast will help it heal quicker.   It breaks this GMOM’s heart when they get their boo-boo’s.
When we left home it was almost 80 degrees.  When we got where we were going it was in the low 30’s and was down to 27 degrees during the night.  We did not expect the temperatures to drop like that!  And no, they have not warmed back up yet, so brrr, it has been a lot cooler.
So, back to business as usual in the Jones’ home!
