Whew! What a few weeks it has been! Just an update. June 23, 2022

 Hi all,

Time flies!  I am behind on my documenting of cards but got all of my # ACardADayInMay2022 photos for those cards posted in several places.  Slowly but surely I will get caught up!  I have to take a group photo of my # Creativity Now cards made by me and featured by Stampin’ Up! At this wonderful event on June 18th.

Life, as we know it, always continues on with or without us, whether we are able to participate and be together or not.  Here are a few more reasons for my being missing in action on my blog lately.

Unfortunately I was having a lot of infection and inflammation of diverticulitis during the week before  and on 2 antibiotics after a 4 day hospital stay after a colonoscopy for lower ab and back pain and right side pain.  No fun and prescribed REST for 2 weeks along with 2 weeks worth of antibiotics.  I do not wish this on anyone!  So if you have any diet suggestions to make it easier, I would be happy to get them.  I am still on a lot of a liquid diet with occasional solid foods and very picky about what I eat.  I don’t like milk so that is no problem although I enjoy cheese which is a no-no if it bothers you but my calcium score was 0% when I had my Cardiac CTA yesterday.  Yay me!  No seeds, no nuts, no beans, no spicy foods, no vinegar and I had stopped sugar sweetened tea a long time ago and only drink unsweetened tea with lemon, preferably decaf and Lady Gray decaf which I usually keep at home.  Drinking it away from home, the tea has caffeine and I try to avoid all caffeine.  So now I stick to drinking water with a slice of lemon mostly.  I quit drinking my coca-cola classic and went from bad to worse with the diverticulitis in addition to eating more leafy green home grown lettuce and salads.  It is on my left side, but the pain was in different areas than the left side.  So during the hospital the CT chest and ab showed the same and no clots in the heart to rule out the chest pain and showed no masses and we already knew about the diverticulitis from that morning’s colonoscopy for the ab, back and right side pains.  I came home, ate, took rx, took a nap and woke up shaking uncontrollably with chest and ab pain and as it was right at 5 pm, my GI dr advised me to go to the ER as did the paperwork sent home from the endoscopy center.  So Jimmy took me and after a few hours of various bloodwork which my WBC was over 18,000, meds, an IV for dehydration and IV antibiotics, they admitted me and did the chest and ab CT.  Yesterday, I followed up with my Cardiac CTA which the doctor is please with and is how I learned may calcium score was 0%. They said my symptoms were not caused from the heart.  Thank you GOD!

A month ago, my husband had left eye cataract surgery and had been seeing the heart dr and having tests.  He is on a blood pressure monitoring program at home which I would encourage anyone whose blood pressure starts getting higher with no apparent reason to get on a monitor program like this one!  He is now released from the eye doctor from all of those restrictions and his vision in his left eye is awesome!  I learned why they go ahead and do the other eye asap too.  We had fun with our Granddaughter yesterday as they had removed the lens of his glasses from the left eye and left the right lens in and he told Alice to look and poked his finger through his absent lens and you should have seen her 5 year old face!!!  The reason they do the next eye asap is the focus of the 2 eyes being so different in strength after the surgery and removal of the cataract.  He was so amazed and so pleased with that new vision!  His next cataract surgery is 8/4/2022 and we continue to ask for prayers for the both of us.  We will be a pro at his right eye cataract surgery recovery process!  Keeping him from bending over or lifting that first week was not easy!  He also had a cardiac CTA last week and got his results today after I got mine and although he has more blockages than I did in 2 areas of his heart, there is nothing to worry about at this time.  It is not sufficient enough to for him to have a heart cath any time soon.  We will follow up regularly and get in immediately should anything arise.  He does have an electrical problem with his heart, but again, as he has no symptoms nor problems, it is a wait and see deal.

There were great family times watching our grands play ball!  Our family all attended one of Barrett’s winning games where he had an in the park home run and won that game.  Talk about excited ~ we were all standing and cheering him on in the bleachers!  This family photo was taken after that game and was to also celebrate our oldest son’s 47th birthday.

Our two beautiful granddaughters!
Alice

Doll, nicknamed by me because my Dad, of whom we lost in 2009, said in her baby pictures she looks just like a little Doll, Layla Rose is looking forward to a busy summer of restoring her Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am with her Dad.  Isn’t she the most beautiful young lady you have ever seen??

When Jim Bob and Amber got married 10 years ago, they borrowed Jimmy’s truck for their wedding and photo shoot.  They got married at Oakhurst Farms.

10 years later with their children and Jimmy’s truck again!  The 10 year anniversary celebration pictures were made while we were camping at Gulf Shores.

Our grandson Jayce was recognized for his work participation program this year in the 11th grade in NE GA.  Here Jayce is with his Dad, our oldest son.

Here is Jayce and his classmates who were also recognized for their work participation programs after they received their certificates.

Hmmm, what else have I forgotten that has kept me so busy?  Oh! Yeah!  We went camping at Gulf State Park from May 5th - 12th.  What a wonderful and relaxing time we had.  We met his niece and her husband there as we camp with them regularly over the years in so many different and beautiful places.  Unfortunately, I was not feeling the best then for a few days due to the onset of the diverticulitis.  It was hard to hike and walk a lot during that time.  We had some great shrimp while we were there.  The shrimp boils we had were so delicious!  We always eat good when we camp!  For Mother’s Day our husbands carried us to Paula Deen’s Family Restaurant!  The food was great old fashioned home cooking!

We enjoyed the beach there!  It was gorgeous!  I even splurged and bought a new swimsuit & sun hat!

And too soon it was time to come home!  We said our goodbyes like we always do before breaking camp and heading home.  We have many photos like the one below from so many places!

My new hat I bought with my new swim suit needed a tie to keep it from blowing off of my head.
Stampin’ Up!’s new starry sky ribbon matched perfectly and was a breeze to add!
See how perfectly it matches?

After we arrived home on Thursday, it was time to head back to Jimmy’s 61st Columbiana, AL high school class reunion for his Class of 1961 Shelby County Reunion.  And of course another meal at Dreamland BBQ in Inverness which is right down the road from Lloyd’s where his class reunion was held.

That was also the day our Grandson Barrett had an in the park home run at 8 years old!  They also went on to win their division championship game and clutch the playoffs and win the playoffs so they are the Rookie League Champions!

Yes, it had been busy and wonderful times and also sickness times but thank you GOD for all of our blessings.

All that said, we are both improving and enjoying life to the fullest!  We had to travel to ATL for our CTA’s and while there were able to attend our youngest grands at their dive meets.

Barrett’s was cancelled on the 16th due to storms but we were there with them.

They both participated and did excellent at yesterday’s dive meets.

And now to share my boys!

And now to say good night and thank you for reading my extra long blog update!
